Placement Horses
The Placement Program had a fairly active year in 2009, however, we like so many other non-profit organizations have been subjected to the downward turn of the economy. Those that were placed successfully have made their new families very happy and are enjoying their new roles as pleasure riding and/or driving horses. Comments from new owners are very similar , “wonderful nature, great manners, pleasure to work with, and so personable!”. Not surprising to those of us who are familiar with the breed, yet so rewarding to hear it again and again.
We have been very fortunate to have outstanding care-givers to the placement horses , they are treated as one of their own and we thank these individuals immensely for their continued care and support. Our wish this year is to be able to work more directly in preparing the horses for their new roles as pleasure horses ; ground work skills, work under saddle, and new driving skills will all produce a more all round student ready for new adventures. Of course it would be ideal if we had indoor facilities at our disposal, as the weather for the most part isn’t conducive to accomplishing much on a consistent basis!! We would like to encourage those with time and talent to check out our volunteer opportunities and be a part of a rewarding opportunity in helping to place these horses in suitable homes.
Although this past year has been a difficult one it has also spurned our desires to find new methods to promote and provide more sustainable means of placing horses from our program or those in the industry having to downsize. We look forward to 2010 as being a year of new beginnings !
Performance Standardbreds will be celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year, so good things are meant to stay!! ______________________________________________________________________________________________

CLINTON'S MISTRESS
“ Clinton’s Mistress” (B.D. 2005) ~15.h.h. Tara is an elegant looking girl , with a strong solid build and a more refined head . Trained in harness , however, she never raced, due more to lack of time than talent . A people pleaser , kind and mannerly , Tara loves attention and really desires her own person to dote on her! Tara would likely make a nice driving prospect or begin work under saddle for other options. If you’re looking for a more stout , sensible, solid girl, she’s definitely worth a look! Located in the Airdrie

FLYING VENUS & MIDNIGHT PROM
“Flying Venus” (Sale Pending)- (B.D.2005) & “Midnight Prom” (B.D. 2006) These two lovely ladies were placed previously in the fall of 2010, however, due to the recent passing of their owner they are available once again. Smaller in statue (15 h.h. & 14.3 h.h respectively) and fairly evenly matched , they are 1/2 sisters with the same beautiful temperment and great manners. Venus has been lightly started under saddle and was very accepting to the process as no doubt her sister will be as well. Both are well started in harness and drive nicely on their own, it was intended that they be driven as a pair eventually. Sound and sensible ,it would be nice to see them re-homed together , but this is not a necessity. Located in the Calgary area, asking $1000.00 each or $1600.00 for both.

SHES SWEET SAWYER
“Shes Sweet Sawyer” (Sale Pending) (B.D. 2005), 15.3 h.h. Previously placed for a driving prospect, Sweetie has an issue that requires someone with the time and experience to re-school her in this area. Lovely to drive otherwise, and lightly started under saddle , she still has a lot of potential for the right person . Beautifully mannered , kind, and willing, she just needs some consistent work to help her along. Sweetie has some nice movement and a build similar to a hunter/jumper type. She will no doubt bring reward to someone willing to invest in her progress! Located in the Airdrie area, asking $1000 (negotiable to a very suitable home)
